La Marzocco Teams Up With Aimé Leon Dore For A New Take On The Linea Micra

by admin

La Marzocco has been on a collaboration hot streak for a few years now. Whether it’s a tricked out Linea with Porsche or luxury travel brand RIMOWA or a custom cafe on wheels with bike manufacturer Specialized or even a chef’s knife of all things (to say nothing of the more functional collab with Mahlkönig, the Sync System), if the iconic Italian espresso machine maker is a part of it, the result is always covetous.

And so it is that La Marzocco has returned with another eye-popping collaboration. This time they have tapped fashion label Aimé Leon Dore for a stunning new take on the Linea Micra.

Aimé Leon Dore is no stranger to coffee. At their flagship locations in Manhattan and London’s SoHo neighborhood, the upscale lifestyle brand also runs Café Leon Dore, a Greek-inspired coffee shop. Handcrafted at Officine Fratelli Bambi, La Marzocco’s Florence-based bespoke espresso machine studio, the new Micra comes adorned in Leon Dore’s signature color palette. The forest green machine features brass accents—including the Leon Dore logo on the steamwand and hot water knobs as well as the Café Leon Dore script on the back of the machine—and touches of walnut wood in the portafilter handle, paddle, and paneling.

The overall effect is that of a very high-end espresso machine, with a high-end price tag to boot. The €9,900 ($11,000 USD) price tag is over €7,000 than the regular Micra, but it is completely built to order. It’s as much a statement piece as it is an espresso machine.

And while the Micra isn’t perhaps suited to handle the stress of a full-service cafe, both Café Leon Dore locations will have Linea Classic machines mirroring the Micra’s design. La Marzocco and Aimé Leon Dore have also teamed up for an entire line of co-branded merchandise, including hats, shirts, aprons, and mugs.
